Speed Dating is a simple concept: Get 10 single men and 10 single women
together at a restaurant for short 7-minute conversations. The women sit at
one side of small, individual tables and the men on the other.
A bell rings
and conversation ensues for 7 minutes where each person can ask questions, talk
about anything they want, and see if there is any chemistry between them. A bell rings
after 7 minutes and the men move to the next table. After a total
of 10, 7-minute, “mini-dates” each person marks on
their private match card who they would like to see again.
The next day,
emails and phone calls are made by the Connections staff to inform the participants of
who they had matches with. Phone numbers are exchanged only with your mutual matches (you both marked yes) and you are free to date!
It’s simple and effective.
In the last 5 years Speed Dating has grown from inception in Los Angeles to
over 100 cities in the US and is growing in Canada, the UK, and Asia, with a 96%
success rate of singles meeting someone they would like to
date in the future.
Why Speed
Date?
Half of all adults are single! (2003 - US Census) Yet, surveying
of people in Redding has shown that most have difficulty meeting single people
because their main option is bars. Bars
are not the best place to meet new people.
Internet dating is too time consuming and lacks
one of the most important dating elements - chemistry. You may spend days finding
someone online and sending emails, just to find out within the first minutes
of meeting that there is no chemistry.
There are no
‘awkward approaches’ felt at bars or coffee shops, everyone gets a chance to
meet everyone else.
